Cannes, the first partner commune for the Natural Risks 06 project
Resilience to natural hazards is a regional and even societal issue. It is the capacity of a society to anticipate and react to a natural phenomenon that threatens its sustainable development, in order to limit the negative impacts and return to a functioning level as quickly as possible. Good local management of crises linked to natural hazards also depends on the level of preparedness of neighbouring municipalities.
The project Natural Hazards 06 questions the level of natural risk management and disaster resilience of the 163 communes in the Alpes-Maritimes department, with a view to building a territorial balance together.
Cannes, The second largest town in the 06 in terms of population, it is the first town in France to have adopted a Local Terrorism Risk Prevention Plan and to have carried out a Tsunami warning simulation exercise. We're delighted to have it as our first partner town in the project. Thanks to the involvement of its teams, we have been able to test and perfect the methodology that will be applied to all our member towns.
