IRIS Project: Ambitious energy renovation project launched in western Nice
Engie Cofely, new partner of the local consortium of the European project IRIS, organized this Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 a Kick Off to present the various missions and objectives of the team carrying the energy renovation project, led by Alexis TAWFIK.
Energy efficiency
As a first step, Engie Cofely will work on the energy optimisation of two buildings located within the territory of Les Moulins in western Nice. This optimisation aims at intelligent regulation of collective heating in order to better suit the needs of each apartment, taking into account its exposure and its real temperature.
During this energy renovation project, different solutions will be proposed and tested, with varying technical and economic advantages depending on the options chosen. The final year of the project will be dedicated to assessing and analysing the implemented solutions in order to select the best-performing scenario for the inhabitants.
Citizen engagement and energy awareness
In addition to its energy renovation mission, Engie Cofely will bring its expertise in the field of citizen engagement. An awareness campaign about energy issues will be carried out among the inhabitants of the buildings selected for this project. It will be deployed around 3 axes:
I) What are renewable energies?
II) How will my good energy habits impact my building, my neighbourhood and my city?
III) How will my good energy habits impact my energy bill?
Engie Cofely will work with the other partners in the consortium to ensure optimal results for the comfort of residents, as well as for energy savings and citizen engagement. Finally, particular attention will be paid to applying the solutions implemented in this project to other IRIS project partner cities.
European project IRIS is part of the Horizon 2020 programme and offers innovative and replicable solutions in the areas of the environment, renewable energy, smart mobility and, more broadly, the city of tomorrow. Launched in September 2017, the project brings together 41 partners from 7 countries and will last for 5 years. The other local partners are: Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, Nice Sophia-Antipolis University, EDF, Enedis, Nexity, CSTB, Côte d’Azur Habitat, Atmo Sud and Vulog.
