IMREDD opens its new building
At its meeting on Tuesday 01 September, the Safety Commission gave the go-ahead for the IMREDD building to be opened to users. The opening concerns all levels except the top floor, where work is nearing completion.
A flagship architectural project for the Plaine du Var Eco-Valley, the IMREDD building is designed according to the principles of energy efficiency and openness to the city, integrating students, researchers, teachers and industrial partners around a project for an intelligent, connected and sustainable city. It will eventually house around 200 staff, including 100 researchers, 50 PhD students and 500 students.
Located on the corner of Cours de l'Université and Rue Emmanuel Grout, this 5,000 m2 building has a central patio and 4 levels:
- on the ground floor and extending onto the mezzanine, the Technology Platform and the Learning Centre
- on the 1st and 2nd floors, teaching and research areas
Atelier Barani has designed a rectangular building whose facades, clad in large fixed slats of opalescent glass, provide transparency that makes research and training activities, and in particular the technology platform and the Learning Centre, truly visible to the outside world.
The real estate project was financed as part of the State-Region Planning Contract, by the State, the Sud-Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur Region and the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolitan Area.
