General goal

On January 4, 2018, the Nice Côte d\’Azur Metropolis, in partnership with Université Côte d\’Azur, was awarded the \”Territories of Innovation of Great Ambition (TIGA)\” label by the government for a project called \”laboratory of the digital innovation applied to territorial management\” in response to the Call for Expressions of Interest launched under the Programme Investissements d\’Avenir.

The action \”Territories of Innovation of Great Ambition\” (TIGA) is endowed with 450 M € over 10 years, of which 150 M € grants and 300 M € of own funds. The ultimate aim of this action is to select and support a limited number of territories of national interest, in the key stages of an ambitious and unifying transformation project, aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants and increasing the sustainability of the project. territory. Projects are supported by a structured consortium of public, academic, scientific and economic actors, as well as representatives of citizens, inhabitants and users of the territory.

Operational goals

The Metropolis, like the other 23 TIGA winners selected (out of 117 applicants), will receive a first support of 400,000 euros. Funding to launch additional studies to refine the territorial project and prepare a response to the call for projects to be launched in mid-2018.
If, in fine, Nice is chosen, an International Center for Innovation of Smart Territories will be created. Its ambition? \”Inventing new tools to engage local residents in local projects and structure a profitable and replicable economic development model.\”
