Back to event: H2020 - IRIS Project Meeting in Vaasa, Finland
The cities and expert organisations involved in the IRIS project met for the 4th time in a row, this time in Vaasa, Finland, from 4 to 6 June. IRIS is a flagship project of the Horizon 2020 programme, funded by the European Union, which aims to find solutions to today's urban challenges through sustainable and integrated solutions. The aim of the meeting was to discover how best to use the know-how and technologies of the players involved in the project.
The flagship cities are : Utrecht (Netherlands), Göteborg (Sweden) and Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur (France), followed by Vaasa (Finland), Alexandroúpolis (Greece), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) and Focsani (Romania). The town of Vaasa is exemplary, with its biogas treatment and production facilities, as well as its high-energy performance residential areas.
As a reminder, the IRIS project deploys urban development solutions in the fields of energy, mobility and information and communication technologies. The main aim of the cities taking part in the project is to draw mutual inspiration from the solutions developed by others, adapting them to their own specific needs.
