Revisiting the first Forum of the Chair «Water in the Territories of the Alpes-Maritimes»
On 4 December 2024, IMREDD hosted the first Forum of the Partnership Chair «Water in the Territories of the Alpes-Maritimes». This event took place in the presence of Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur, and Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Department of Alpes-Maritimes, marking a major step forward in the collective reflection on sustainable water management.
A collective commitment to address water challenges
The Chair, led by Isabelle La Jeunesse, brings together communities, businesses, and researchers around three themes: water resources, uses, and territorial governance. This first forum made it possible to determine strategic priorities through collaborative workshops, mobilising the local ecosystem to respond to climate challenges.
«Water management is a vital issue for our territories. This forum marks an essential step in co-creating sustainable solutions to current and future challenges.»
Isabelle La Jeunesse, Chair Coordinator
«Thanks to this professorship, we are joining forces to develop innovative solutions, in perfect alignment with our Water Plan.»
Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Department of the Alpes-Maritimes and SMIAGE
The next steps
In 2025, working groups comprising local authorities, businesses, and researchers will delve deeper into the identified challenges. The findings will feed into a scientific programme submitted to the steering committee in the spring, thereby strengthening collective action for sustainable water management.
This forum embodies the ambition of Université Côte d’Azur, IMREDD, and the Alpes-Maritimes Department to combine academic excellence and territorial innovation to address major environmental challenges.
