A project co-built by the Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur and the Nice-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur Metropolis, and funded under the State-Region plan contract, IMREDD is an important player in the Plaine du Var Eco-Valley, at the heart of the future Nice M\u00e9ridia urban technopole, fitted out and developed by the EPA Nice Ecovall\u00e9e. Open to the University Course, this 5000 m2 building, designed by architect Marc Barani, is exemplary in terms of energy and the environment. IMREDD is an original place of cooperation between the academic world, business and the territory.<\/h4>\n

At the heart of the Nice M\u00e9ridia urban technopole, IMREDD invents the City of Tomorrow<\/h3>\n

At the heart of its territorial development and contributing to its international influence and appeal, IMREDD \u2013 the Institute for Partnerships and Innovation of University C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur \u2013 embodies one of the new Experimental University's structuring pillars. It brings together researchers and educators, students, business creators, economic partners, and communities in an innovative collaboration focused on a societal challenge: the intelligent and resilient territory in the face of all environmental issues.<\/p>\n

In relation to the economic world, IMREDD has the following missions:<\/p>\n

\u2022 to stimulate collaborative research \/ transfer actions,<\/p>\n

\u2022 to promote expertise and innovation in businesses for economic development and job creation in the area,<\/p>\n

\u2022 Create initial and ongoing training courses that directly meet the needs of businesses.<\/p>\n

Imagined and designed around an open Technological Platform dedicated to sustainable development and the Smart City (Smart City Innovation Centre), IMREDD aims to foster the link with the business world and ensure effective connections and interactions between fundamental research and innovation in a logic of cross-fertilisation. Its approach simultaneously aims to understand existing solutions, new needs, and evolutionary perspectives within the identified Strategic Activity Areas (SAAs):<\/p>\n

The Smart City Innovation Centre is a project funded with the support of the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. The project also benefits from public co-financing from the Nice C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur Metropolis, the Alpes-Maritimes Department, the Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur Region and the State, in particular within the framework of the \u201cInitiative d'Excellence\u201d operation of the \u00abInvestments for the Future\u201d programme.<\/small><\/p>\n

+ A model of energy efficiency and openness to the City<\/h3>\n

The future IMREDD building is one of the flagship architectural projects of the Var Plains Eco-Valley. Designed according to the principles of energy efficiency and openness to the city, it will allow the integration of students, researchers, educators and industrial partners around a smart, connected and sustainable city project. Its Smart City Innovation Centre (SCIC) makes it possible to materialise, on an industrial scale, different key concepts and technologies for the Institute\u2019s Strategic Activity Areas, a real place of experimentation, training and demonstration for the Smart City of the future.<\/p>\n

The Learning Centre, located at the heart of the building, is a modular space adaptable to different activities (conferences, teamwork). A versatile space for training, exchange, meetings, and synergy, spanning two levels.<\/p>\n

The building was designed with technologies that allow for the conscious and efficient use of energy and natural resources.<\/p>\n

Designed to meet energy and environmental challenges (bioclimatic architecture, production of photovoltaic electricity), the building will make it possible to experiment with energy management through the implementation of innovative solutions integrating into a smart grid approach through projects such as \u201cSmart campus<\/a>\u201dand H2020 IRIS<\/a> which mobilises the public-private ecosystem on the Nice Meridia site.<\/p>\n

The backbone of these projects, the IMREDD fully involves its students in the form of study projects, internships or doctorates, particularly students from its Master of Science \u00ab Engineers for smart cities \u00bb which opened in September 2016 and is dedicated to training managers in the field of smart city management.<\/p>\n
