{"id":18814,"date":"2021-04-28T14:37:22","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T12:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imredd.fr\/?p=18814"},"modified":"2026-01-08T12:22:43","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T11:22:43","slug":"modelisation-du-batiment-de-limredd-vers-un-bim-dexploitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imredd.fr\/en\/modelisation-du-batiment-de-limredd-vers-un-bim-dexploitation\/","title":{"rendered":"Modelling the IMREDD building: towards a BIM for operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The digitisation of the IMREDD building using the \u00abScan to BIM\u00bb method corresponds to the process of modelling a building on the basis of its point cloud.<!--more--> This is the 3D footprint generated following a survey of the building's interior and exterior using 3D scanning technologies. This methodology enables the digital model of a building to be created or updated on the basis of an imprint that is representative of reality and accurate to within a centimetre.<br \/>\nSuch a building-scale project involves grouping together several scanning stations. For the IMREDD building, around 350 scans were taken, before being processed and finally generated into a faithful 3D model.<\/p>\n<p>Once the building has been scanned, two main types of use recur depending on the project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The production of a digital model from the point cloud. The advantage of this is that it corresponds perfectly to the final construction, and therefore to reality. The disadvantage is that this type of processing does not retain the technical information of the various elements that make up the building. This option is often considered when a scanned structure no longer has any plans, or when they are obsolete.<\/li>\n<li>Overlaying the digitised building with the provisional model. In this case, the model can be retouched and readjusted to match the existing building perfectly. The advantage of this process is that the technical data from the various external media (plans, technical data sheets, etc.) is preserved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the IMREDD building, the second option was chosen.
