This device will store surplus energy production from the photovoltaic panels installed on the building's roof.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Recent flywheel system technology is based on accelerating a rotor in a vacuum chamber (without air friction, the flywheel can thus rotate for much longer, at high speed and using very little energy). The kinetic energy stored in this way can then be recovered by braking the rotor. The principle seems simple, but it took 5 years of development for the British company <a href=\"https:\/\/oxtoenergy.com\/\">OXTO Energy<\/a> To obtain an efficient and compact model. Its nominal storage capacity is 7.5 kWh, with a charge\/discharge power of 65kW.<\/p>\n<p>It will be used in various use cases, particularly for managing peak consumption. This system will also facilitate the integration of electric vehicles into the cities of tomorrow. With this new device, 80% of the absorbed energy can be returned, with a very fast response time. Its lifespan is unlimited and, unlike traditional storage systems, all of its components are recyclable.<\/p>\n<p>Testing innovative solutions in the energy sector is one of IMREDD's major challenges.
