In the context of a pandemic, surgical masks represent 3.5 billion items of waste per day, according to National Geographic. Most of these masks are made of polypropylene, which can take around 450 years to degrade in nature. They therefore represent a real threat to our ecosystem.<\/p>\n
With this in mind, students in the Industrial Development Master's programme, in association with students in the GEDD Master's 1 programme, have joined forces to launch the MASK'N'COLLECT project, which aims to collect and recycle used masks and turn them into T-shirts.<\/p>\n
The aim of the project is to raise public awareness of the problems of pollution and environmental protection by turning polluting objects into new objects.<\/p>\n
There is a collection point at the IMREDD reception desk, so don't hesitate to dispose of your masks where indicated and contribute to this initiative.<\/p>\n
