On Wednesday 9 October, Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d'Azur, in partnership with the town of Mandelieu-La Napoule and the Communaut\u00e9 d'Agglom\u00e9ration Cannes Pays de L\u00e9rins, launched an experiment in autonomous shuttle transport serving the Mandelieu area. C\u00f4te d'Azur residents are invited to come and try out this autonomous mode of transport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The trial will take place on roads open to public traffic in Mandelieu-La Napoule. For a fortnight, from 7 to 18 October (Monday to Friday), the autonomous shuttle will run in a loop from the Parking de la Pin\u00e9a, with an option to get off at the Plage de la Raguette, giving a large number of users the chance to try out this mode of transport.<\/p>\n

Experimentation with autonomous vehicles in Mandelieu-La Napoule<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As a dynamic, creative and innovative town, Mandelieu-La Napoule is determined to become a smart and sustainable city. As such, it intends to set up its territory as a model of development using intelligent and sustainable mobility in a seaside town that, during the summer period, has a strong impact on road traffic regulation. To modernise its range of services, it intends to take advantage of the opportunity afforded by future road upgrades along the seafront.<\/p>\n

The aim of the experiment is to ensure that the use of an autonomous electric vehicle on the seafront meets real needs and contributes to a process of progress in line with a number of sustainable and intelligent development issues.<\/p>\n

The launch event was attended by S\u00ebbastien Leroy, Mayor of Mandelieu-La Napoule, Pierre Revet-Servettaz, Deputy Mayor, David Konopnicki, Vice-President of the Alpes-Maritimes d\u00e9partement, Emmanuel Tric, Director of the IMREDD, and Eric Dumetz, Director of the Fondation Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d'Azur.<\/p>\n
