In an ambitious move aiming to revolutionise water management, the M\u00e9tropole Nice C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur, its Water and Sanitation Utility, Xylem, a global leader in digital water technology and services, IMREDD, and the G\u00e9oazur laboratory at Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur have launched the \u00abAct and Innovate for Water\u00bb project. This project combines field expertise, digital innovation, and university partnership to support a more sustainable future for water management in the metropolitan area.<\/p>\n

As part of the France 2030 plan and more specifically the Innov'EAU call for projects led by ADEME, this \u20ac5.9 million project aims to establish a new standard: making water management smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable, by ensuring a reliable water supply for the population. The Prime Minister's office has confirmed the project's eligibility by granting \u20ac4 million in aid from ADEME. With a duration of three years, \u00abAct and Innovate for Water\u00bb aims to produce a measurable environmental impact.<\/p>\n

A unique advanced monitoring and visualisation solution for smarter water management<\/h3>\n

At the heart of the project lies the development of an innovative digital solution for advanced monitoring and visualisation, bringing together thousands of data points from sensors and software used by metropolitan utility services into a modular and interoperable water resource management platform. Structured in three layers: a data management base, business modules, and a real-time strategic dashboard, the platform is designed to reduce water loss, improve energy efficiency, and enhance network resilience against environmental challenges such as droughts and floods.<\/p>\n\n

The platform will first be deployed across the entire Nice C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur Metropolis network. This large-scale pilot project will allow for the validation of the platform's capabilities and demonstrate its potential for expansion to other water services in France.<\/p>\n

\u00abWater utilities are under increasing pressure to strengthen the resilience of their networks and improve their operational efficiency. Using intelligent solutions such as data analysis, real-time leak detection modules and predictive maintenance tools enables them to meet these challenges proactively. With this project, Eau d'Azur is taking a bold step towards maintaining efficient, resilient and intelligent water management across its entire network. The integration of digital solutions such as Xylem Vue as part of the project is key to providing a holistic view of data to simplify and optimise network management, improving the safety and reliability of water resources. We are delighted, with this initiative, to be helping the Nice Metropolitan Area to become a pioneering region in France, using digital technologies to transform water management,\u00bb said Olivier Lamarie, Managing Director of Xylem France and Belux.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Knowing and identifying deep and shallow reservoirs, the exchanges between them, acquiring data, analysing it, and positioning it as control parameters in simulations \u2013 these are all scientific approaches that Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur will bring to this high-stakes project, \u00abAct and Innovate for Water\u00bb.
