UCA and IMREDD: collaboration with 14 Brazilian municipalities on a territorial resilience project
This Thursday, May 23, 2019, Université Côte d’Azur and the Association of Communes of the Middle Valley of Itajaí, Brazil, signed a letter of intent for cooperation in the field of territorial resilience.
The signing ceremony took place in videoconference between Professor Pierre-Jean BARRE, director of IMREDD and scientific leader of the project, and Mario Hildebrandt, mayor of the city of Blumenau and president of the Association of Municipalities of the Middle Valley of Itajaí, in the presence of the mayors and deputies of the 14 municipalities concerned. The objective of this cooperation will be to create, in this Brazilian territory and on the Côte d’Azur, a partnership ecosystem and a collaborative platform, with the participation of local authorities, local businesses and the academic world, to develop risk management and prevention projects and to boost the economy in this area. This new platform will follow the model of the one already developed by IMREDD on the Côte d’Azur territory, in the field of Smart City.
The Association of Municipalities of the Middle Valley of Itajaí (AMMVI) is an entity of territorial collaboration comprising 14 municipalities of the State of Santa Catarina, in the South of Brazil. Its territory represents 4.5 million km2, with a total population of 782 thousand inhabitants.
