A novel bio-material is to dramatically decrease the cost of treatment of severe wounds and burns.
Today, many hospitals cannot afford to use the advanced solutions currently available based on tissue engineering to treat deep wounds and burns. Given their relatively high perceived costs, it is difficult to draw clear conclusions in terms of costs/benefits for the treatment of traumatic wounds, the presentation of which varies considerably. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a product that would significantly reduce treatment costs while producing results equivalent to those of current tissue engineered products.
Thus, the objective of the Deepcure project is to develop an innovative and affordable 3D biomaterial based on purified egg shell membrane protein (PEP) for deep wounds and burns.
